What Is the Borussia Park Stadium?
Borussia Park is an amazing football stadium located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the city of Mönchengladbach. Borussia Park is the home stadium of one of the most prominent German clubs, Borussia Mönchengladbach, which currently plays in the Bundesliga. The total distance between the center of the city and the stadium is slightly more than 4 kilometers. You can easily reach it by using several means, such as shuttle buses and cars. It’s also located slightly more than 1 kilometer away from the city’s main train station.

By car or taxi:
If you go from the Mönchengladbach motorway junction(the right direction), take the A61 towards Koblenz and drive until the Nordpark exit. If you come from the opposite direction, you should leave the motorway at the Nordpark exit. Then, continue on the B230 parkway until you see the way to Borussia Park. The way is signposted.
On match days, generally during the weekend, the side streets along Aachener Straße and Gladbacher Straße are closed to non-residents. The Gladbacher Straße-Northausen junction is also closed to traffic for two hours before the kick-off.
By public transport:
If you want to avoid traffic jams during the rush hour, valid tickets allow you to use public transport in the VRR and AVV areas to get to this nice stadium. This is one of the best options to reach the stadium.
On matchdays, shuttle buses start from Rheydt Central Station / Mittelstraße every five minutes before the game starts. Alternatively, you can catch a ride from Künkelstraße station every 20 minutes, starting two hours before kickoff.
The new 017 line bus route begins from Europaplatz / Hauptbahnhof stop, located in the Mönchengladbach city centre. From the Platz der Republik (behind the Monchengladbach main station), shuttle buses leave every five minutes, starting from three hours before the game begins until two hours after the final whistle.
You can also reach this football structure from the Wegberg bus station. From there, you can go directly to Mönchengladbach Hauptbahnhof and Rheydt station. The return trips end two hours after the game finishes.
From Düsseldorf:
The best way to reach Borussia Park is to take one of the frequent train services from Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof to Mönchengladbach Main Station. This trip can take around 20-25 minutes. From there, you can get one of the free-of-charge shuttle buses to Borussia Park at the main bus station, which takes around 20 minutes or less. Then you can go back again thanks to the same service until two hours after the match finishes.
Gladbach Tickets
You can acquire a match ticket for Borussia Park matches in four different ways: online, by entering the official website of Borussia M’Gladbach, buying by phone and calling +49 (0) 1805 18 1900, buying them directly from the Shop at the stadium, or at the fan shops located at the center of the city, at Wallstraße 16 and the Stresemannstraße 1-7, in Shopping-Galerie Rheydt.
If tickets are available for a football match on the same day you go to the stadium, you can buy the tickets directly from the site and the ticket windows. Since Borussia M’Gladbach only sells out just a few games per year, you probably can acquire tickets in the ticket window; however, sometimes, and due to important matches, this alternative is not available. If you purchase tickets by phone, you can print them at home and get free ride on local public transport to the game via shuttle bus or train.

The prices for the tickets range from the A category to the D category, the latter being the cheapest, with a range of €19.90 to €44.50. These prices correspond to seats behind the home goal and the opposite side. The A category prices range from €47.50 to €64.50. Some of these tickets are reserved for club members and give access to the VIP area.
Things to Do in Mönchengladbach – General Tips
If you’re looking for accommodation nearby, then the Hotel Palace St George, the Best Western Crown, and Hotel Tannenhof are a great alternative you should consider. The three boast comfortable hotel rooms and are located just a few hundred meters away from the stadium, within walking distance. The latter is a good option if you prefer a cheap alternative and is a hotel type for romantic getaways. These hotels also are located near train stations.
Düsseldorf, on the other hand, has more top attractions. This city may also be a good option for people who want to check out other alternatives with global-hotel-class popular amenities and nightlife. However, Düsseldorf is 40 km away, and coming back to the city late in the evening after a Champions League game late evening might be quite a hike.
In addition, if you want to experience nearby attractions or some of the most popular Mönchengladbach sights, then Mönchengladbach city center offers various attractions, including museums, parks, and historical sites such as Museum Abteiberg, Alter Markt, Kaiser-Friedrich-Halle, Bunter Garten, and St. Vitus Basilica. - Borussia Park has almost 10,000 parking spaces available for both regular and wheelchair spectators.
- The day parking ticket costs €6 per vehicle. If you park in the Messe car park, you will pay €10 per vehicle.
- Coaches have a separate car park (P4B) only for them. This coach park is reachable via the MG-Holt exit located on the A61 and Aachener Straße/ Gladbacher Straße (B 57).

Borussia Park History
Borussia Park was constructed to replace the outdated Bökelbergstadion, which no longer met the safety standards required for Champions League and Bundesliga matches. Construction on Borussia Park commenced on March 15, 2002, and the stadium was inaugurated on July 30, 2004.
Although Borussia Park is one of the most modern and technologically advanced stadiums in Germany, it has not been chosen for major international tournaments, such as the 2006 FIFA World Cup or the UEFA Euro 2020.
