A Brief History of the PSV Eindhoven Stadium
The PSV Eindhoven Stadium has a rich history with more than one hundred years of football matches, joy, and triumphs. It started in 1910, the year Philip inaugurated the field, the supplement manufacturer brand. Philips built the football pitch for its workers so that they could practice several types of sports.
In 1916, the brand and the Philips Elftal (a brand-owned football team) built the first wooden stand. In 1913, the Philips Elftal was succeeded by PSV. Since then, PSV has played its matches there. In 1953, the club added a press conference room, meeting spaces, and a memorial to the war victims.
In the 1970s and 1990s, the PSV Stadion underwent many modifications, which converted the arena into a covered stadium. The club also added multiple commercial areas and new stands in 2002, which completed the stadium’s actual capacity.

The PSV Eindhoven Stadium was one of nine stadiums selected to host EURO 2000 matches in Belgium and the Netherlands. It hosted three matches of the Group Phase.
